Rates shown are indicative mid-market rates, not transaction rates. Banks, card networks and exchange counters typically add a margin of roughly 1–3% plus a fixed fee, so the amount you actually pay or receive may differ slightly.

How Currency Converter Works

Currency conversion is a straightforward multiplication once you know the exchange rate:

Converted Amount = Amount × (Rate of Target Currency ÷ Rate of Source Currency)

Exchange rates are quoted relative to a base currency (USD in this calculator's underlying data). To convert from one non-USD currency to another, the calculator first converts through USD internally, then presents the result as a single rate — so you never have to do the two-step math yourself.

Mid-market vs. transaction rates: the rate shown here is the indicative mid-market rate — the "true" midpoint rate you'd see on Reuters or Google. Banks, card networks and currency-exchange counters almost always add a margin on top (typically 1–3%) plus sometimes a fixed fee, so the amount you actually receive or pay will usually differ slightly from this calculator's figure.

Worked Example

Amount: 100 USD

Target currency: INR

If the mid-market rate is 1 USD = 83.40 INR, then 100 USD converts to ₹8,340.

If you're sending this through a bank that charges a 2% margin, you'd actually receive closer to ₹8,173 — which is why it's worth comparing a few providers for any large transfer rather than assuming you'll get the exact mid-market rate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the currency exchange rates live?

Yes — the converter fetches near real-time exchange rates covering major world currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, INR, JPY and more. If the live feed is briefly unavailable, an approximate offline rate is shown and clearly labeled as such.

Which currencies does the converter support?

USD, EUR, GBP, INR, JPY, AUD, CAD, AED, SGD, CNY, CHF, ZAR, BRL, RUB and SAR — the currencies most commonly searched for worldwide.

Why does the rate here differ from what my bank offered me?

This calculator shows the mid-market rate, not a transaction rate. Banks and exchange services add their own margin (commonly 1–3%) plus sometimes a fixed fee, so the amount you actually pay or receive will typically be slightly worse than the mid-market figure shown here.

Can I convert between two non-USD currencies, like EUR to INR?

Yes. Pick EUR as "From" and INR as "To" — the calculator handles the underlying USD-based math automatically and just shows you the final EUR-to-INR rate and converted amount.
